BWD Editor Wins ABA Award
On June 26, 2008, the American Birding Association (ABA) presented Bird Watcher’s Digest editor Bill Thompson, III, with the ABA Robert Ridgway Distinguished Service Award for excellence in publications pertaining to field ornithology. Robert Ridgway was the Curator of Ornithology for the Smithsonian and published one of the first color systems for bird identification. Past recipients of the award are Harold Mayfield, Susan M. Smith, Steve N.G. Howell, Donald Kroodsma, and Bill Clark. Thompson received his award, along with an engraved plaque and a pair of Zeiss Victory 8x42 binoculars, at the 2008 ABA Convention in Snowbird, Utah.
